A number of you have been asking for more audio options with the ideas that I share so you can listen on the go.
I hear you and more bite sized bits are on their way so you can listen while you cook dinner, shovel the snow from your driveway, or take a walk on the trails or the beach if you are in the sunny south.
Wherever you are, I hope you can find some quiet time today to walk or pour yourself a warm drink and listen to this recent heartfelt conversation with the lovely Leith Mckay.
You can listen here on Apple or Spotify
Leith is an incredible woman, mother and friend. She inspires others to imagine a world where we all wake up believing in ourselves and we never feel limited by the thought patterns or stories we tell ourselves.
That is definitely a world I want!
You can learn more about Leith and her highly rated podcast here.
We had this recorded chat in early December and it was just released this week.
Can I confess something?
I wasn’t sure I wanted to share it with you or anyone. I listened to it and my inner critic came online over the holidays and had a hay day with me. I also confess that some days it’s harder than others to answer the call. To do what I’m being guided to do and not care what others think of me.
That seems to be the work for me now, overcoming myself. I’m so grateful to have a wonderful girlfriend named Robin that encouraged me to share it, so you can thank her. I know how hard it is for us to change and I can’t nor do I want to change others any more. I do want to demonstrate what is possible for others that are seeking peace of mind.
Spiritual vision seems to be about seeing things differently first in our own minds and then out in the world. That is how everything is created. First in mind, then in matter.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish”.
Proverbs
We can transcend our egos or fear or the thinking of the world or physical sight looking for proof and choose to see with this other divine vision.
From here we CAN change. In my experience, peace of mind is not just possible, it’s inevitable once we align with a higher power.
We’re told that our faith can move mountains and yet our egos keeps us trapped in an illusion of fear and will not allow us to even fathom this inner power we all possess. It seems clear that our work is to be willing, open minded and to find a way to eradicate the self created layers of fear that block the awareness of love’s presence.
We can have a grievance or a miracle, we can’t have both.
When you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
James 1:5-86
It’s Sunday, I’m still here and I’ve made peace with my doubts and my imperfections.
Even in this vulnerable conversation that reveals my secret self. The part of me I don’t like to share, the part of me that prays in private and communes with God.
I want to keep telling the truth to normalize our natural capabilities to awaken to higher levels of consciousness, love and peace in this lifetime.
I was nervous at the start and I spoke very quickly and breathlessly, but Leith’s calm nature worked its magic and eventually I seemed to settle into myself. This conversation was totally unscripted and spontaneous which I enjoyed and by the time we got rolling it was fun and more natural.
I know that what I’m sharing is not mainstream.
It’s okay for you to have doubts and I’m not asking anyone to believe what I do.
It’s just my personal experience.
Of course we went over time because, well…it’s me…but please feel free to break it up or take a bit of a longer walk.
I’ve had several requests for the “Nine minutes with Nona” so thank you for your interest, to keep things simple I’ve decided to start an audible version through my Substack later this week. The cost is a paid subscription or $9 per month. Anyone that has already contributed to my work will automatically have access and be offered the choice to opt in to the daily recordings.
As I mentioned last week, these are a supplement to the daily lessons in the workbook of A Course In Miracles which is a psycho-spiritual mind training to undo the ego’s thought system based in fear and return to love. You don’t need to read the course to benefit from the teachings, but I do recommend it when you’re ready. It’s a self study course and there is a free App through the Foundations for Inner Peace that you can download on your phone or follow online.
There’s also a paid audible version. I like to use both.
These are Universal Spiritual Truths that we can fill our minds with every day and as the Course says 5 minutes spent with these teachings is enough for them to be with your thought forms throughout the day. That has been my own experience.
To further answer Leith’s question of HOW do we transcend our ego? That may be up to our own awareness and “The Course” teachings along with any of your preferred personal spiritual practices of prayer, breath work and meditation are some of the best insights available to humanity and the fastest way I know of to accomplish this.
If you don’t have a spiritual practice, you don’t know how to pray, meditate or even know where to start, subscribe to “Nine minutes with Nona” and follow along and i’ll share some different ways for you to see what works best for you.
Thank you for your continued support of my work and for your messages about the piece last week on whales. Their slippery selves seem to have struck a chord.
Oh…I almost ordered a “to go” coffee in a take out cup not once, but twice this week, but thankfully Scott was there to save me. Old habits really do die hard.
Next week we’ll begin to look at our personal relationships and how they can transform as we begin to make this inner shift.
Feels a bit like I really did “find me” or open my heart a crick more and reveal more of my True self to the world this week. Thank you Leith for the safe container, thoughtful questions and for creating a space for others to share, grow and become more aware.
It does feel more and more like we’re not alone, we’re all in this together.
I’m living proof that we can awaken by living a beautiful life and mastering this inner shift from fear to love.
We may not be perfect, but peace is.
With love,
Rev Nona
According to the Suzuki Foundation, taking inspired action really is the best antidote to despair when it comes to our environment. We have all the necessary resources to benefit from the emerging cleaner economy, but we must take bold and immediate action now.
“It’s not just an environmental argument to move away from fossil fuels. Wind and solar are the cheapest forms of electricity in history, while fossil fuel prices are increasingly volatile and costly. We will all see the benefits on our energy bills of a grid powered by renewables.”
The Suzuki Foundation 2024 climate priorities report
Today’s climate challenge is a simple one…
Sign this or a petition of your choosing. Right now, before you get up off your seat. These are advocacy actions we can do from home in our pyjamas. Eeesh, those poor people that used to have to go door to door at dinner time to get real live signatures.
These online petitions are an effective means of amplifying our voices and speaking truth to power by influencing the decision-makers whose choices impact all of our lives. They show the media there is a story worth covering, help organizations gain support, and provide accessible civic engagement.
Sign this petition calling for bold and urgent climate action. *
89, 968 have signed and 10,032 more signatures are needed to reach the 100,000 goal. You could make that number… 89,967.
For our American Field members, the Nature Conservancy also has this petition. You have the power to make it 273, 411:)

See you next week and thank you for the relationship questions, I’m open to any others to help create the next few stacks if there is something you are struggling with right now simply respond to this post or comment below.
Glad you shared!
Also, glad that you struggled. TBH, without you struggling, it becomes unrelatable.
You have shown us what is possible. That we can move back and forth between the state of love and certainty ... and the state of fear and doubt ... when we forget and listen to the false programming we grew up with, instead of what matters. Love, connection, and service.
