I have been delving into the concept of habit stacking and creating rituals, seeking a sense of stability and fulfillment. When they don't stick, I feel like a failure. I have some idea that other people are doing it better. It is reassuring to hear from one of those 'other people ', that these habits can wax and wane, but that comitting to something that floats our boat on a daily, makes such a difference to our overall quality of life. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for your comment Paige. Doing my practices now is my favourite part of my day.
One caveat is that there is a tendency for us to get lazy and want to take shortcuts without doing the work of showing up each morning once we pick something that resonates. So we end up cherry picking different practices like we're choosing snacks at the grocery store. An entire consumerist spirituality has emerged where it's more like a shallow self-help shmorgasbord where we go on retreats, skim religious texts, follow influencers on IG or podcasts, and have a take what we want and leave the rest kind of mentality.
We may feel better for a bit but then we're right back where we started in the same unbalanced work life and chaotic relationships.
Best to choose one lineage, drill down deep with a teacher that resonates and hold onto your hard hat;) You may find that no matter what you path you choose with devotion you can have a lasting and life-long transformative experience. It's hard to describe, but it's like you'll just KNOW if something is for you. I'll be in touch soon - maybe we can go for coffee while I'm up in North Bay!! xx
Loved reading this Nona....so many things resonated with me and I always appreciate you sharing with the world and allowing all of us to learn something from your words. xoxo
